What to buy in Bhutan

Bhutan is known for its age old tradition of handicrafts. The textiles woven here are intricately styled with vibrant colors and remain a shopper’s delight. Statues of local deities are hand crafted at the School of Traditional Arts and is widely available in the market. Bamboo baskets called bangchus are very popular with tourists.

Prayer beads and prayer wheels can be purchased for gifts. Thangkhas or scared paintings painted by professional painters can be bought from several handicraft outlets. Besides there is a lot of local jewelry to be admired and worth buying.  

The Postal Department of Bhutan has some wonderful postal stamps where you can stop by and buy a few to add to your collection.
