Guests with King of Bhutan

Ever since Bhutan shed off its self imposed isolation, the tiny kingdom in the Himalayas has intrigued the world with its pristine natural environment and wonderful hospitality of its people. The kingdom, where centuries old culture and tradition blend harmoniously with modernization to make it a fairy tale land like no other. Bhutan is home to its seven hundred and fifty thousand people living in small villages scattered across the valleys and mountains. Ruled by a beloved king who believes in gross national happiness rather than gross national product, the Bhutanese live their daily lives guided by their traditional values. Bhutan is rated top ten global hotspots of the world. With 70% of the country under rich forest cover, it is a biodiversity zone teemed with flora and fauna. Bhutan is also the only country where the government has taken initiative to ban tobacco, plastic and billboards.

The first tourists came to Bhutan in 1974 when His Majesty the King Jigme Singye Wangchuk was crowned as the fourth King of this country, Bhutan. Ever since, Bhutan has welcomed thousands of visitors. One would think that years of development have eroded the beauty of this country, which was referred in the olden days as the “The Lotus Garden of the Gods.” Bhutan today is economically the fastest growing nation in Asia. All this progress has come in tandem with the preservation and promotion of the country’s cultural heritage. The Government pursues an active policy of preserving the numerous temples, monasteries and fortresses that dot the countryside.

All in all, Bhutan beckons the traveler in you. So come and Travel to Bhutan with us for a unique and enriching experience of your life time.

Bhutan’s Tourism Policy, “High Value & Low Volume”: Yak Adventure Travel fully supports this policy. Even though the potential for Tourism development is enormous, Bhutan has chosen to ignore the global pace, placing happiness of the people before instant material gain. A policy epitomized by “High value and Low Volume” tourism, which is sustainable and sensitive to preservation of its heritage in a rapidly changing world. In trying to strike a balance between the past and the present, authencity and sensitivity govern the development of Tourism products in Bhutan.
